Leadership happens through making real connections with others.
As leaders we need others to come with us. Not in a sheep-like way. In a way where we embrace diversity, empower others to own their strengths and be leaders themselves. This doesn’t happen by having the most dominating voice or quickest answer, just as much as it doesn’t happen by holding ourselves back or not wanting to upset anyone. To lead with greatest impact, there is a need to get out of our own way, to get over ourselves.
This happens through being responsible for and understanding ourselves. In so doing, we are freed up to be present, have the courage to speak our truth and the compassion to respect what is true for others. By optimising our listening, understanding and support we can then really build the trust that unlocks our leadership.
By connecting and leading in this way, we create a great place to work that achieves desired results.
